Medical Expenses are the Leading Cause of Personal Bankruptcy

If you saw the title of this article and thought, “and in other news, we breathe air,” you aren’t alone. It’s no secret that medical bills have skyrocketed to unreasonable levels. Considering that millions of Americans are uninsured, the costs of a significant medical treatment can be devastating. With medical bills running higher than the price of a house, more and more people are escaping their creditors by filing bankruptcy.  Let’s examine why and what can be done about it.

What Happens After Treatment?

When you suffer from a serious illness or injury, it follows that you’ll see doctors and be treated to the best of modern medicine’s ability. Unfortunately, modern medicine has a lot of problems. For one, it’s horrendously corrupt, and hospitals will renege on their negotiated prices with you. Also, hospitals will frequently charge you for treatments you didn’t receive, or even double charge you for the same treatment. A hospital will take any and every opportunity to wring more money out of you. In the end, it may be better just to file bankruptcy.

Why Bankruptcy?

In some cases, bankruptcy isn’t just trying to get out of your responsibilities. If you have medical bills greater than your annual income, it could literally take you decades to get out from under them. The stress of having such debts coupled with the possibility of future medical problems and subsequent treatments can be too much to bear. So bankruptcy protection may be your best bet. Rebuilding your credit over the next decade can save you a lot of pain further down the line.

What can be Done About It?

For smaller bills, work with a lender like plaingreenloans. If you owe only a few hundred or a few thousand dollars, it may be beneficial to pay it down on a plan of some sort. Filing for bankruptcy should be something you do only after you’ve exhausted all the gentler options.

Medical treatments are insanely expensive. More and more people are filing for bankruptcy protection because their debts are simply too much to bear. While bankruptcy may be an option for you, you do have other options to consider. Think very carefully about your future and your ability to pay your debts before you take a drastic step. While medical bills are potentially damaging, sometimes the financial cure is worse than the disease of debt.

A Slower Metabolism May Lead to a Longer Life

A slow metabolism may not be the worst thing for your health.

A fast metabolism may be credited for keeping you slim but it may also be responsible for speeding up the aging process.

A review published in the Journal of Nutrition evaluated studies on daily energy expenditure, calorie restriction, and variations in metabolism and lifespan. Researchers discovered a strong negative relationship between residual longevity and residual daily energy expenditure. Higher daily energy expenditure in this review was associated with a shorter lifespan. As we metabolize food for energy, metabolic waste is produced that can cause free radical damage to the body. The higher the metabolism, the greater the metabolic waste produced. This scenario can lead to increased oxidative damage, accelerated aging and earlier natural mortality.

Getting Enough Vitamin D Helps Lower Men’s Risk of Heart Attack and Stroke

Spending a few moments in the sun may get you a bit more than just a tan.

By spending no more than 15 minutes in the sun with arms and legs exposed your body will produce over 10,000 IU of necessary vitamin D.

The sun is the major natural source of vitamin D, since sunlight triggers vitamin D synthesis in the body.

Food sources are relatively few and include fatty fish like salmon and mackerel, and fortified dairy products and cereals.

Studies have found that this vital vitamin may help reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in men.

After accounting for a range of factors — like age, weight, exercise levels and other diet habits, such as fat intake – Sun’s team found that men who got at least 600 IU of vitamin D from food and supplements had a 16 percent lower risk of heart attack and stroke compared to men who got less than 100 IU of vitamin D per day.

Monsanto Spends Millions of Dollars Lobbying for Your Life

Monsanto spares no expense to control the World’s food supply.

The maker of Round-Up and the leader in GMO’s has a firm hold on lawmakers in Washington D.C.

This large corporation spends millions to make you ill.

The world’s largest seed company lobbied Congress and the U.S. Department of Agriculture over regulations that would affect the distribution of genetically engineered crops like the company’s Roundup Ready soybeans and alfalfa.

The company also lobbied Congress and USDA on issues surrounding consolidation and antitrust law in agriculture. Last year, the USDA launched a joint effort with the U.S. Department of Justice to examine antitrust laws over food companies, and Monsanto was a key focus of a public workshop on the seed industry.
