      Meningitis Vaccine Now Recommended for 9 Month Old Babies

      Meningitis vaccines are now being given to 9 month old babies.

      This raises the number of inoculations to over 20 before baby’s first birthday.

      For parents concerned about the effect of inoculations this comes as just more bad news.

      What has been occurring is a surge among the very young with vaccine injury related deaths, as in SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), various forms of paralysis, disabling seizures, autism spectrum behavior often with extreme bowel disorders, ADHD, asthma, and food allergies. The kids are worse off now than before.

      Most of these alarming events have occurred shortly after vaccinations, especially after a barrage of multiple shots in one day, or within the same time frame as a scheduled series.

      While there has been no direct link acknowledged by the medical community between childhood vaccines and SIDS, Autism, Seizures or mental defect it has also not been disproven to the satisfaction of many parents.

      HPV Vaccine Becomes the Center Of Republican Debate

      HPV is extremely common—75 percent of all women will eventually come in contact with this virus. But the good news is that most of those cases will clear up by themselves in as little as two years. Plus, there’s the additional protection of vaccination.

      Nearly 100 percent of cervical cancers are caused by high-risk HPV, says Mark Einstein, M.D., director of clinical research at Montefiore Medical Center and Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. If left untreated, cervical cancer may require chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or a full hysterectomy, and may even result in infertility or death.

      The vaccine Gardasil protects against four of the most common strains of HPV, 16 and 18 (which can cause cervical cancer) and 6 and 11 (which cause genital warts).

      Another vaccine, Cervarix, has also been approved by the FDA and is highly effective in treating strains 16 and 18. The National Cancer Institute reports that there is evidence that Cervarix may also protect against other types of HPV that cause cancer.

      The HPV Vaccine can be beneficial, however, a government mandate may not be popular.

      Whole Foods Refuses to Label Genetically Modified Foods

      It is disappointing to learn that Whole Foods is unwilling to participate in the labeling of Genetically Modified Foods.

      The one time leader of the “whole” food movement, organic and unadulterated food and humane and natural products has sold out to big corporations leaving the consumer in the dark to navigate the maze of agri-business on their own.

      Making an informed choice about what goes into your body has just become a little bit more difficult and Whole Foods is complicit in the deception.

      Whole Foods refuses to support GMO labeling.

      More Salmonella at Cargill Inc. Turkey Plant

      The same Arkansas plant which recalled 36 million pounds of ground turkey last month has yet again found salmonella after recent testing following a temporary shutdown.

      More ground turkey has been recalled due to a suspicion of salmonella.

      When Are You Too Old to Drive?

      Should we be concerned about elderly drivers?

      Reese Witherspoon was hit by an elderly driver this week which has prompted the conversation.

      “When is it time to surrender the car keys?”

      It is not an easy conversation to initiate but as Baby Boomers age it will be increasingly necessary to discuss the driving ability of an aging population.

      In a study released in January, scientists from the University of Rochester suggested older people have trouble driving because they have a heightened awareness of people and cars moving around rather than what’s right in front of them. In particular, drivers over 80 have an elevated crash risk when trying to deal with more complex road situations, such as intersections, left turns and reacting to an imminent crash, according to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
      The American Automobile Association estimates 37 million drivers will be 65 and older by 2020, and 90 percent of them will be licensed. Drivers 85 and older has surpassed 3 million.
